By using the website, submitting an enquiry, uploading files, paying a Project Initiation Fee, approving a quotation or otherwise engaging Pattern Lab, you agree to the applicable provisions of these Terms.
If you act for a company or other organisation, you represent that you have authority to act on its behalf.

- Pattern engineering
- Sample development
- Fit review
- Pattern correction
- Pattern grading
- Marker planning
- Fabric-consumption analysis
- Pattern digitisation
- Technical apparel development
- Garment-construction consultation
- and related technical-development services.
Availability depends on project requirements and Pattern Lab’s acceptance.
04No Automatic Acceptance
Submitting:
- A contact form
- Tech Pack
- File
- Project requirement
- or Project Initiation Fee
does not by itself constitute Pattern Lab’s acceptance of the complete development project.
A project is accepted only when the applicable scope and commercial terms have been confirmed in accordance with Pattern Lab’s project process.
05Project Initiation
Pattern Lab may charge a Project Initiation Fee before detailed technical review.
The applicable amount will be disclosed before payment.
The Project Initiation Fee covers initial assessment of submitted development information and commencement of the technical-review process.
Where stated in the applicable commercial terms, the Project Initiation Fee may be credited against a subsequently confirmed development project.
Payment does not guarantee that Pattern Lab will accept every requested service or meet a requested date.
06Project Scope
Each development engagement should be governed by a written scope through one or more of:
- Quotation
- Proposal
- Statement of Work
- Purchase Order acceptance
- Project confirmation
- Email confirmation
- or other written commercial documentation.
The project scope may specify:
- Garment
- Style
- Service
- Base size
- Size range
- Sample requirement
- Number of revisions
- Deliverables
- Timeline
- Customer responsibilities
- Price
- Taxes
- Payment terms
- Shipping
- and other project-specific conditions.
Where project-specific terms conflict with these general Terms, the specifically agreed written project terms should prevail to the extent of the inconsistency.
07Customer Information
The customer is responsible for providing accurate, complete and timely information reasonably required for development.
This may include:
- Tech Packs
- Measurements
- Fabric information
- Construction details
- Fit requirements
- Size charts
- Grade rules
- Reference products
- Sample comments
- Approvals
- and other instructions.
Pattern Lab is entitled to rely on information supplied by the customer unless an obvious inconsistency is identified.
08Changes to Input Information
Changes to:
- Measurements
- Fabric
- Fit
- Construction
- Design
- Size range
- Reference garment
- Trim
- Wash
- Shrinkage
- or other project inputs
after development has commenced may require additional work, revised timelines and additional charges.
Such work is not automatically included within the original scope.
09Technical Review Is Not Bulk Production Approval
Pattern Lab provides development services according to the agreed scope.
Unless expressly agreed otherwise in writing, Pattern Lab does not assume responsibility for:
- Bulk production management
- Factory workmanship
- Cutting accuracy
- Sewing accuracy
- Fabric defects
- Fabric lot variation
- Wash variation
- Production shrinkage
- Operator variation
- Machine setting
- Finishing variation
- or other manufacturing variables outside Pattern Lab’s control.
Customers and manufacturers remain responsible for appropriate pre-production and bulk-production controls.
10Sample Limitations
A development sample represents the interaction of:
- Pattern
- Fabric
- Construction
- Sewing
- Finishing
- and other physical variables.
A sample made in substitute fabric may not behave identically to bulk fabric.
Pattern Lab does not guarantee that a sample made using materially different fabric will precisely predict bulk-garment behaviour.
11Fabric Shrinkage
Where shrinkage is relevant, the customer should provide reliable fabric shrinkage information or arrange appropriate testing.
Pattern compensation based on customer-provided shrinkage data depends on the accuracy and consistency of that data.
Actual bulk shrinkage can vary due to:
- Lot
- Processing
- Washing
- Finishing
- Relaxation
- Temperature
- Mechanical treatment
- and other factors.
Pattern Lab should not be responsible for fabric behaviour outside the assumptions and information used in development.
12Fit
Fit is influenced by:
- Body dimensions
- Fit standard
- Ease
- Fabric
- Construction
- Posture
- Size specification
- and intended silhouette.
A pattern developed to an agreed specification does not mean that one garment will fit every person identically.
Fit approval should be based on the customer’s defined fit standard and applicable sample-review process.
13Revisions
The number and type of revisions included in a project should be specified in the quotation or scope.
Revisions caused by:
- Customer design changes
- New measurements
- New fabric
- New fit direction
- New construction
- New reference product
- Late buyer comments
- or changes after approval
may constitute additional work.
Pattern Lab may quote separately for such work.
14Approvals
Customers are responsible for reviewing and approving applicable:
- Patterns
- Measurements
- Samples
- Fit
- Grading
- Markers
- and other deliverables.
Pattern Lab may rely on written approvals received from the customer’s authorised representatives.
Once a stage has been approved, subsequent changes may be treated as additional work.
15Grading
Grading should ordinarily proceed from an approved base pattern.
If the customer instructs Pattern Lab to grade an unapproved or unresolved base pattern, the customer accepts the risk that base-pattern issues may propagate through the size range.
16Marker Planning
Marker efficiency and fabric consumption can depend on:
- Fabric width
- Pattern dimensions
- Size ratio
- Quantity
- Grain
- Nap
- Checks
- Stripes
- Directional print
- Fabric defects
- Cutting restrictions
- Spreading method
- and production conditions.
Quoted or calculated marker consumption should be understood within the assumptions stated for the relevant marker.
Actual production consumption may vary.
17Customer-Supplied Intellectual Property
The customer represents that it has the rights, permissions or lawful authority necessary to provide and instruct Pattern Lab to use any:
- Tech Pack
- Pattern
- Artwork
- Logo
- Design
- Reference garment
- Image
- Measurement chart
- or other customer-supplied material.
The customer should not instruct Pattern Lab to unlawfully reproduce third-party intellectual property.
18Reference Garments and Third-Party Products
Pattern Lab may analyse a reference garment for legitimate technical-development purposes where requested.
Unless expressly authorised, the customer must not instruct Pattern Lab to create unlawful copies of protected third-party designs, artwork, trademarks or other intellectual property.
Educational analysis of third-party garments displayed by Pattern Lab does not imply affiliation, endorsement, sponsorship or client relationship.
19Customer Ownership
Customer-supplied pre-existing intellectual property remains the property of the customer or applicable rights holder.
Ownership of newly created project deliverables should be governed by the applicable quotation, project agreement or statement of work.
20Pattern Lab Pre-Existing Materials
Pattern Lab retains ownership of its pre-existing:
- Methods
- Know-how
- Templates
- Generic blocks
- Processes
- Systems
- Software workflows
- Libraries
- Tools
- Technical methodologies
- and other intellectual property not specifically created and assigned as a customer deliverable.
A customer does not acquire ownership of Pattern Lab’s underlying know-how merely because it receives project deliverables.
21Payment
Prices may be stated exclusive or inclusive of taxes as specified in the applicable quotation or checkout.
Customers must pay amounts in accordance with the stated payment terms.
Pattern Lab may suspend technical review, development or delivery where amounts are overdue.
22Taxes
Applicable GST and other taxes, duties, withholding requirements or governmental charges will be handled in accordance with applicable law and the commercial documentation.
International customers are responsible for taxes, duties or charges imposed in their jurisdiction unless expressly agreed otherwise.
23Payment Gateways
Online payments may be processed through third-party payment providers.
Pattern Lab is not responsible for independent outages or technical failures of banks, card networks or payment providers, although it will reasonably assist with transaction reconciliation where appropriate.
24Refunds and Cancellations
Refunds, cancellations and Project Initiation Fee treatment are governed by the Payment, Cancellation & Refund Policy and any applicable project-specific terms.
Where work has already commenced, amounts corresponding to work performed or committed costs may be non-refundable to the extent permitted by applicable law and contract.
25Shipping / Courier
Where physical:
- Reference garments
- Samples
- Patterns
- Fabric
- or other materials
are shipped, responsibility for courier cost, insurance, duties and risk should be defined in the project scope.
Unless expressly agreed otherwise, customers should not send irreplaceable originals without discussing shipping and handling with Pattern Lab.
26Physical Materials
Pattern Lab will take reasonable care of physical materials entrusted to it but cannot guarantee against every risk of:
- Courier loss
- Accidental damage
- Wear during analysis
- Fabric cutting
- Sample development
- or events outside reasonable control.
Where a physical pattern or garment is unique or irreplaceable, the customer should notify Pattern Lab before dispatch.
27Delivery Dates
Any project timeline is based on assumptions including timely:
- Customer information
- Approvals
- Fabric availability
- Sample material
- Feedback
- and payment.
A requested target date is not automatically an agreed delivery date.
Only timelines expressly confirmed by Pattern Lab should be treated as committed project timelines.
28Delays
Pattern Lab will not be responsible for delays resulting from matters reasonably outside its control, including:
- Delayed customer feedback
- Changed specifications
- Courier delays
- Power or internet disruptions
- Technology outages
- Supplier delays
- Fabric delays
- Natural events
- Government action
- Labour disruption
- or other force-majeure events.
29Confidentiality
Pattern Lab will treat customer confidential information according to applicable project terms and its Intellectual Property & Confidentiality Policy.
Where enhanced confidentiality is required, the parties may execute a separate NDA.
30Publicity
Pattern Lab should not publicly identify a customer’s confidential project or represent a company as a client without appropriate permission.
Any use of customer names, logos, project images, case studies or testimonials should be subject to appropriate authorisation.
31Website Content
Website information is provided for general informational and commercial purposes.
Technical educational content does not constitute a project-specific engineering conclusion until Pattern Lab has reviewed the actual garment requirement.
32No Guarantee of Commercial Success
Pattern Lab does not guarantee:
- Sales
- Market acceptance
- Retail performance
- Profitability
- Production efficiency
- Buyer approval
- or commercial success
of a product merely because Pattern Lab provided technical-development services.
33Third-Party Services
Pattern Lab may rely on third parties such as:
- Couriers
- Payment providers
- Cloud providers
- Software platforms
- Sample suppliers
- and other service providers.
Their independent services may be governed by separate terms.
34Warranties
Pattern Lab will seek to perform agreed services with reasonable professional care consistent with the defined project scope.
Except to the extent expressly stated or required by law, no other warranty should be implied beyond applicable mandatory legal obligations.
35Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Pattern Lab should not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, punitive or consequential losses including loss of profits, revenue, business opportunity, goodwill or anticipated savings arising from use of the website or services.
Subject to mandatory law and any project-specific agreement, Pattern Lab’s aggregate liability for any claim is limited to the fees paid to Pattern Lab for the specific service giving rise to the claim.
Nothing in these Terms excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited.
36Indemnity
To the extent permitted by applicable law, the customer should indemnify Pattern Lab against third-party claims arising from:
- Customer-supplied infringing material
- Unauthorised use of third-party IP
- False authority to submit files
- Unlawful instructions
- or material breach of the customer’s contractual obligations.
37Termination
Either party may terminate a project according to the applicable project terms.
Pattern Lab may suspend or terminate services for:
- Non-payment
- Unlawful instructions
- Abusive conduct
- Material breach
- Security concerns
- IP infringement concerns
- or other reasonable grounds.
Amounts payable for work already performed remain due subject to applicable law and agreed terms.
38Electronic Communication
The parties may communicate and approve matters electronically.
Email, project systems and other agreed electronic communications may constitute written communications for project administration, subject to applicable law and any agreed signature requirements.
39Website Availability
Pattern Lab does not guarantee uninterrupted website availability.
The website may be temporarily unavailable for:
- Maintenance
- Security
- Upgrades
- Technical failure
- or matters outside Pattern Lab’s control.
40Prohibited Website Use
Users must not:
- Attempt unauthorised access
- Upload malware
- Interfere with security
- Scrape protected content unlawfully

- Submit unlawful content
- Infringe third-party rights
- Use the website for fraud
- or misuse upload/payment functionality.
41Governing Law
These Terms should be governed by the laws of India, subject to any mandatory law that cannot lawfully be excluded.
42Dispute Resolution
The parties should first attempt good-faith commercial resolution.
If unresolved, the applicable project agreement may provide for arbitration in accordance with the Arbitration and Conciliation Act, 1996, as amended.
Unless the applicable project agreement states otherwise:
Seat and venue: Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India.
Language: English.
Arbitrator: Sole arbitrator appointed in accordance with applicable law.
Courts at Chennai should have appropriate jurisdiction for matters not subject to arbitration or requiring court intervention.
43Severability
If any provision is held invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions should continue to operate to the extent legally permissible.
44Waiver
Failure to enforce a provision on one occasion does not automatically constitute waiver of that provision.
45Assignment
Customers may not assign a project agreement without Pattern Lab’s written consent where such restriction is legally permissible.
Pattern Lab may assign rights or obligations in connection with corporate restructuring or transfer of business, subject to applicable law.
46Entire Agreement
These Terms together with applicable quotations, project confirmations, policies and written agreements constitute the contractual framework applicable to the relevant engagement.
47Changes
Pattern Lab may revise website Terms from time to time.
Changes should not retrospectively alter already agreed project-specific commercial rights unless permitted by contract and law.
