Before Pattern Lab can properly define a development project, the team may need to understand the garment, measurements, construction, fabric, existing technical information and expected output.
The Project Initiation Fee allows submitted projects to enter a structured technical-review process rather than being treated as a general price enquiry.

If the submitted development project is confirmed with Pattern Lab India, the Project Initiation Fee will be adjusted against the applicable development invoice, subject to the stated commercial terms.

About the fee.
Why is there a Project Initiation Fee?
The fee allows Pattern Lab to begin a structured review of the submitted garment-development requirement rather than treating the submission as a general pricing enquiry.
How much is the Project Initiation Fee?
₹1,500 for India-based submissions. For submissions from outside India it is US$20, payable in US dollars, British pounds (£20) or euros (€20).
Is the fee an extra charge?
Where applicable under the stated commercial terms, the Project Initiation Fee is adjusted against the confirmed development project.
Does paying the fee confirm my project?
No. Payment initiates technical review. The complete development project begins only after the scope, commercial terms and applicable development requirements are agreed.
What will Pattern Lab review?
The review can include the submitted Tech Pack, measurements, garment construction, fabric information, references, existing patterns and the technical services requested, depending on what has been provided.
Will I receive a quotation?
Once the requirement is sufficiently understood, Pattern Lab can define the appropriate development scope and quotation.
What if information is missing?
Pattern Lab may request additional technical information before the project scope can be finalised.
What if I don’t have a Tech Pack?
Use the Contact Pattern Lab route instead. You can begin a general development discussion without paying the Project Initiation Fee.
Do existing customers have to pay this every time?
Project-initiation requirements may vary depending on the customer’s existing commercial arrangement with Pattern Lab.
Is the fee refundable?
The applicable refund and adjustment terms are set out in the Payment, Cancellation & Refund Policy.

Not every development uses the exact same Tech Pack structure.
The purpose is to communicate the intended product clearly enough for technical development.
Don’t have a Tech Pack?
If you are still working from a sketch, reference garment, existing sample, measurement sheet or early-stage idea, start with a general development discussion instead.
Product development requires trust.
Tech Packs, patterns, measurement charts and unreleased garment designs can contain commercially sensitive product information.
Pattern Lab India uses submitted development files only for the agreed enquiry and project-review purpose, subject to its applicable privacy and project procedures.
NDA-based arrangements can be discussed where appropriate.
